Service Tax- Amnesty Scheme 2013

In order to encourage voluntary compliance, the Central Government has proposed to introduce

a one time amnesty scheme called the service tax Voluntary Compliance Encouragement Scheme 2013.

The important features of this scheme are :

Under the scheme any person can declare their past tax dues and paythe same in the manner

prescribed whereupon such person would be eligible for immunties of:


Interest or

any proceedings under the act

Tax dues include :

Any service tax (including cess) due and payable;

Any service tax collected from the service recipient in excess of what is due and paid to the


Amount collected as service tax from any person(though not required to be collected)

for the period 1st October, 2007 to 31st December, 2012 and which is remaining unpaid
